You will no doubt know the RS4 and S4 performance models, but this is probably a little bit more unusual and dare we say it, rarer.
Some will know the DTM edition from this era, well this model, called the S-Line Special Edition (which is a bit of a mouthful!), is the little brother of the DTM.
Built alongside the DTM, S4 and RS4 models in a seperate factory to the rest of the A4 models.
They both share the same 220PS/ 217BHP Turbo Petrol engine and are the only A4 models to get this specific engine (it was also found in the VW Golf GTi MK5).
This is the MK1 model with some unique parts which we will discuss later.

The interior is finished with the Volterro leather interior, which is two tone Graphite and black and embossed with S-Line branding.
The MK1 car has the following extras fitted:18″ Ronal DTM style alloy wheels.Black headlining.3-spoke S-line steering wheel.Two tone Volterro leather interior.Black twin exhaust pipes.Inlays in brushed aluminium.S-line bodystyling.Leather gearknob.BUL 220 PS engine.The car drives extremely well, 217BHP doesnt seem like lots considering hot hatches come with similar these days, but this is a rapid car! 154mph and 0-60 in 7.1 seconds (where permitted) is quick. This car hustles when needed. All whilst returning an average of 35MPG which is pretty sensible.
ULEZ exempt which is excellent.
Owned by the last keeper for 11 years which shows it must have been a great car for them.
We were promised much service history but this has never materialised, so you buy the car on its own merits today – which is exactly how you should always buy a used vehicle. And we welcome any inspection.
The car is fitted with lowered suspension as standard, but we feel it has been fitted with uprated springs which have lowered it a bit more. The car drives very well, and is not crashy or noisey over bumps, but it no doubt improves drivability at speed and asthetically it looks great.
We originally took the car in to sell and most are sold unprepared through our . However, we felt the car would benefit from a 1 stage polish which it has done.
Negatives – not an exhaustive list:There are paint scuffs and marks around the body as pictured.The headlining is slightly dropped in places.We would suggest a service although the oil is clear.The car was MOT’d but the few advisories have not been done.Centre armrest clips broken.Complete with two keys, the van has the following specification:
