Calling all Audi enthusiasts! Bargain due to intermittent gearbox malfunction warning!
This car has been my pride and joy since new! 0-60 in 5.5 secs, 272ps, 3.0 TDI, Quattro, 7 speed S-tronic. Only 70k miles in 8 years. Around £5k of extras when ordered including tech pack, dynamic LED lighting, memory seats, heated front seats, heated mirrors, metallic Mythos black paint.
Unfortunately the car threw up the “gearbox malfunction” warning but the good news is I have done all the investigation work, including spending almost £3.5k on new parts and labour to pin point the cause which is the mechatronic unit. I would have happily paid to sort this myself and keep the car but after spending the initial money, the wife said “no more!” and now I find myself driving a brand new EV! Ugh! How I miss this car!!
There are various options available to address the mechatronic issue such as rebuild, replace with new mechatronic or replace with refurbished, warranted mechatronic from a gearbox specialist such as Milta Technology. Ecutesting dot com offer a rebuild service at £405. Other companies are available but the two mentioned have great reviews.
Initial works I have had done and reasons why are:New battery – £300 – an old battery is a common cause of showing the gearbox malfunction warning due to lack of voltage.Engine coolant leak fixed – £1750 – engine coolant leak is known for gearbox contamination in various Audi models.Gearbox repair kit installation – £1300 – another common gearbox malfunction warning cause is that the wiring looms, sensors and solenoids deteriorate over time and the repair kit replaces all the vulnerable parts.
With all this work done and warning light still coming on intermittently, the only possible remaining cause is the mechatronic, as diagnosed by my local Audi specialist.
The car has 4 decent Pirelli P Zero tyres with plenty of tread and all round brake pads and discs were changed last year.
If you are willing to do the work then this is a bargain to be had.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
