It’s hard to believe that we’ve owned this car for 8 years now. In that time it’s been reliable, fun, practical, economical and surprisingly capacious. It’ll be missed but a change in commute means that since being MOT’d in November it’s just not been used.
BodyThe silver metallic paint doesn’t show its 22 years, remaining deep and lustrous with no fading, dullness, lacquer peel or any weather damage. It’s never been to a body shop and it shows, or rather it doesn’t, shut lines remain tight and consistent throughout whilst paintwork is obviously factory. The body has no dents at all with just a small scuff to both rear wheel arches and a tiny blemish on the drivers door. The 17″ Sport 9 spoke alloys really let the side down, having been kerbed, a lot, as a result of the correct tyre having very little bulge in the sidewall to protect the rim. Though few A2’s are worse than this you’d be hard pushed to find one without kerb damage, though they are all straight and not buckled.
