I still think it’s one of the best looking convertibles ever designed and I didn’t realise how rare this one is; there’s only one other 3.2 Quattro 6 speed manual on at the moment.The 3.2 V6 is such a glorious engine, you have to drive a decent normally aspirated V to really appreciate them, so different from the small 4 cylinder turbos that everything has these days.
In the time I’ve owned it, I have fixed every single mechanical and electrical fault or niggle the car had (and there were plenty).Most of these 18 year old cars are being sold as they have niggles, this one is different and very honest; anything could develop two miles down the road but the risk is hugely reduced, it’s had: replacement comfort module, modules recoded, ABS sensor, full new boot lid switch panel with new number plate lights and switch, new Bosch battery, new genuine clutch and brake switches, air con re-gas, full service including spark plugs and I had factory cruise control retro-fitted as weirdly (despite being top of the range and having auto lights and auto wipers) cruise wasn’t fitted and I can’t (be arsed to) drive distances without it, especially with so many average speed cameras.
I have the latest Ross-Tech VCDS (formerly VAG-COM) and can do full diagnostics on any VAG car and will happily provide you with a print out of a full module scan with the purchase. If you go and look at one of these cars and it doesn’t give you a green ‘OK’ on the dash when you start it then walk away. Even if it does, there can be loads of diagnosed but not shown module faults which can only be seen with VCDS or similar.
There are two faults remaining on it; one is no communication with the voice control module which is probably fixable but I aren’t interested in it and the other is the alarm sounder module which needs replacing and I’ve never got around to it. The alarm works but doesn’t sound; this is very common on the cabrios as the alarm module is under the rear deck cover which lifts to house the roof and water gets in and ruins them. I can show you where this is, it’s an easy swap.
The body will definitely need attention at the end of this season; it’s all original paint and it’s got the usual stone chipping especially along the front edge of the bonnet and there are a few bits that need catching before they get worse. The main issues are a dent with no broken paint on the offside wheel arch and a crease in the rear bumper both in photos. Both there when I bought it.
I’m not a paint or body guy (but I know a great one if you’re East Yorkshire / North Lincs); I would get the wheels refurbed, clay and polish the body and get the joy this summer. It looks great as per the photos, I’m just being very honest.
Roof works perfectly and is in great condition. Original rear wind shield in original bag in perfect condition.
Drives literally amazingly, Quattro is crazy, gearbox and clutch are beautiful to use and the V6 noise (especially with the roof down) is glorious without being annoying or embarrassing. Come and let me drive you round in it.

For people asking about the timing belts, the V6 has timing chains, not belts. The chains are pretty bulletproof, they can stretch if the tensioners are worn/knackered, tensioners were checked when it was serviced last year.
